Bone Sarcoma: A Rare but Aggressive Cancer

Bone sarcomas are malignant tumors that originate in the bone or associated soft tissue. Though rare, they tend to affect younger individuals, particularly adolescents and young adults. Common types include osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, and Ewing sarcoma.

Symptoms often include persistent bone pain, swelling near the affected area, and increased risk of fractures. Diagnosis typically involves imaging studies such as MRI or CT scans, followed by biopsy. Treatment usually consists of a combination of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgical resection of the tumor.

Early detection is crucial for improving survival rates. Patients are encouraged to consult an oncologist if persistent bone pain or swelling occurs without a known injury.
